Dear Wynd Backers,

We hope everyone is full of health and staying safe in these rocky times. The Wynd team has been working hard (many remotely now), and we wanted to provide a more detailed update on our progress.

We’re happy to announce that all orders have either arrived or are in-transit to their destination. In this update, we’d like to share information on remaining shipping timelines and some exciting feature updates. We’d also like to take some time to answer the most common questions we’ve received so far.

Shipping

There were some unexpected delays, but all boat orders are now on their way! Regional estimates for doorstep arrival are as follows:

  • Europe: mid-April
  • Australia: end-April
  • Canada: end-April
  • East Coast (US): beginning-April to mid-April

Shipping is taking longer than expected primarily due to additional screening procedures that have recently been implemented as well as increased shipping congestion in general.

All air-shipped orders are also on their way! 90% of these have already arrived and the remaining 10% will be arriving by the end of next week.

Feature updates

With more users receiving their units, we’ve gotten some great feedback. While much of what we’ve heard has been positive, we’ve also received pointers on areas of improvement as well as fixes needed:

  • Pairing: Some users have had trouble pairing their Halo or Home Purifier, so we’ve updated the UI to simplify the process and help troubleshoot if there are any issues.
  • Insights: We’ve also improved the UI of the “Insights” tab in the app in order to make reading the data received from the Halo more intuitive. Data exports have also been enabled for users who want to do their own analysis.
  • WiFi Stability: Improved stability will help speed up the pairing process as well as ensure the Halo and Home Purifier stay connected to the network.
  • Improved sensing: We strive to make our Halo sensors as accurate as possible, so we’ve continued to tweak and improve our algorithms, including dynamically calibrating the sensors once they are turned on.

Coming up:

  • Reducing the buzzing sound: If you hear a buzzing sound coming from the Halo, it’s not broken. That’s the fan inside drawing in air to analyze. However, we realize the sound can be somewhat harsh if you put it close to your ear, so we are working on a firmware update to reduce the fan speed without impairing the sensors.
  • Smoother fan speed transitions: Currently, Home Purifier fan speeds are triggered by air quality thresholds, resulting in abrupt transitions. In order to better reflect current air quality levels, we will be introducing more gradual fan speed changes.
  • Air ID: The ability for the Halo to identify pollen, pet dander, pollution, and smoke will soon be available. We are currently making tweaks in order to get it ready for launch and will keep you updated.

Dear Wynd Backers,

Why, Halo there!

We know you’re all very anxious to receive your devices, so we’ve been working hard to get product out asap. Multiple batches of product have been arriving, and everyone from our team in the Bay Area (California) spent the day boxing them up to be sent out across the western United States.

Dock outside USPS.

We also want to apologize for the delivery delays. Many on the team back crowdfunding projects, and we empathize with your frustration. We not only need to improve our execution, but also our communication so expectations are aligned. Much blame lies with us not sufficiently overseeing our logistics partners, but unpredictable events (tariffs, Hong Kong protests, Coronavirus) compounded these issues. Rest assured that we are working continuously to ensure everyone receives their orders asap, and we are committed to communicating better in the future.

In a more light-hearted summary, please see below for some videos and pictures of our team packing up a large batch of units that got sent via USPS a few days ago.

Best,

Wynd team

All-hands meeting.

Tue Feb 11 '20 Announcement
about 4 years ago – Tue, Feb 11, 2020 at 02:15:13 PM

I got a confirmation code in December – why haven’t I received my order yet?

We wanted to be really detailed to clarify any questions, so sorry in advance for maybe too much information...

Confirmation codes were sent after each order was manufactured at the factories in northern China and Shenzhen. Once a batch of units are manufactured, they get shipped to a central warehouse in Hong Kong until the rest of the products are completed. In Hong Kong, individual devices were combined into complete orders and were palletized (for bulk shipping).

Unfortunately, due to manufacturing delays, we were unable to meet our originally-scheduled cargo ship, and, in the lead-up to Chinese New Year (CNY), all boats were completely booked-up. This was compounded by the Coronavirus outbreak, which led to additional inspection procedures and a CNY holiday extension. As such, shipments to the US East Coast, Canada, and Australia didn’t go out until February 10th. The boat headed for Europe will depart sometime the following week (after 2/10), but we are currently confirming a more precise date with our logistics partner. The process for getting cargo loaded onto a ship takes around a week. After orders are loaded on the ships, it will take approximately 4-5 weeks for them to arrive at their destinations. 3 days before arriving, tracking codes will be sent out. These codes will not be immediately usable and will only begin tracking once your order has been unloaded from the ship and processed by your parcel delivery service. However, once activated, you will be able to follow your order’s journey.

When will more tracking codes be sent out?

West / Central Halos

For China, Hong Kong, and air-shipped East Asia orders, tracking information has already been sent. For Central / Western US orders, we’ve sent out 120 tracking codes and will be sending out over 800 more this week. If you’ve received a tracking code, but are not located in China, Hong Kong, East Asia, or the Central / Western United States, the code is incorrect. We are currently investigating with our logistics partner to resolve the issue. Please don’t hesitate to contact us. For reference, US West / Central includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Armed Forces Pacific, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming.

Why are different regions arriving at such different times?

While cargo ships are very efficient at transporting large shipments long-distance, they are slow and often must take circuitous routes around continents. For example, to reach the East Coast of the US, a ship must go through the Panama Canal in Central America.

Firmware update

Earlier today the Halo firmware was updated to improve connectivity. Simply restart your Halo (turn it on and off), make sure that your device is connected to WiFi, and plug it into an outlet, then it will update automatically. Later this week, we will also be publishing an additional firmware update to further improve WiFi connection stability.

Dear Wynd Backers,

Next batch of several hundred  Halos shipping out to backers

With so many backers having received their units, and many more set to receive theirs soon, we’re excited to announce our first over-the-air update. This update will add new features to your Halo devices as well as fix some bugs. To update your device, simply make sure your Halo and Home Purifier are connected to WiFi and plugged into an outlet - that’s all! Next week, the update will automatically be pushed to all devices, adding some exciting capabilities, including:

Alexa

The Wynd Halo is now compatible with everyone’s favorite virtual assistant! Simply say the phrase, “Alexa, open Wynd Home” and use your device to control your Wynd devices. Currently, you can use voice commands to hear Wynd Score readings from your Halo, but full functionality will be added soon.

Air ID

With this feature, the Halo will be able to identify pollen, dust, smoke, smog, and pet dander. The Halo infers the presence of these particulates from data it collects via its 10 physical sensors. We’ve spent a lot of time refining the algorithm to identify these substances accurately and expect it to improve even more over time.

Shipping update

Some of the boat shipments from Hong Kong went out later than we would have liked, but orders are currently en route to ALL backers (unless you’ve received your unit already). Confirmation numbers have been sent as well (if you have not received one, it may be in your spam folder) and tracking numbers will become available once the shipment is within 3 days of reaching your port (tracking numbers are set to automatically expire, and our logistics partner wants to ensure they don’t stop working mid-transit). Below are the latest expected port arrival times for each region:

  • US (except East Coast): 1st - 2nd week of February
  • Australia: last week of February
  • US (East Coast), Canada: 1st week of March
  • Europe: 2nd week of March

Once the shipment has reached your port, you will have received your tracking number and will be able to follow your order’s land journey. All boat shipments are being delivered DDP (we are paying the duties and taxes associated with importing), so all you will have to do is receive your package when it arrives at your doorstep.

We really apologize for the wait due to ocean shipping, but it was financially impossible for us to air-ship everything given the size of the products. We look forward to delivering all your orders, and are continuing to work on expanding and improving the Halo and Home Purifier’s capabilities (we’ll be sure to keep you updated on when new features will be launched).

Thanks again for your support of Wynd and our campaign. We are always available for any questions or feedback. If you have any questions about shipping, need any assistance setting up your devices, or any other matter, please feel free to reach out to [email protected] and we will reply within 24 hours.

Best wishes,

Wynd Team

Dear Wynd Backers,

We hope everyone is enjoying the holidays! Thanks for all the great questions this past week. We know everyone would like more information about the progress on shipping, so we’d like to help clarify with some more details.

Home Purifier, V-Series Filters, and Halo shipments at logistics center, ready to ship out. Many of the boxes are set up in pallets so they can all be shipped at once.

Shipping confirmation codes

As we promised, we’ve been continuously sending out confirmation codes to backers as soon as their order has started the shipping process, which in most cases will start via ocean freight. These codes have been sent out on over 1,000 Halo and Home Purifier orders. While these codes confirm that your order has been shipped out, they cannot be used as a tracking code.

We sent out another batch of confirmation codes on December 30th, so keep an eye out on your inbox.

Tracking codes

These codes can be used to track the progress of your order. However, our logistics partners will only generate them once the shipment is within 3 days of reaching the port. The reason is that the tracking codes automatically expire after a few weeks and our partners want to make absolutely certain that the codes don’t stop working mid-transit.

Shipping and arrival timelines

We have been continuously manufacturing and shipping units as fast as we can. We anticipate that all orders will have been shipped out in the next two weeks to customers in all 90+ countries. That means everyone should be at least getting their shipment confirmation code by then.

When the shipments arrive at your doorstep depends on your type of order and region. We anticipate that most of the US, Canada, China, Hong Kong, and air-shipped orders should be receiving their orders this month. The US East Coast, EU, and Australia should be receiving their orders approximately two weeks later.

* * * * * * * *

We know we’ve disappointed you in missing our timelines, and we are truly sorry about that. Please rest assured though that the entire Wynd team is working around the clock to make sure we can get all your orders out in the next two weeks. In addition, we’ve been working on some significant feature updates to the devices and software, which we will be publishing in January (more on that later).

Thanks again for your support of Wynd and our campaign. We are always available for any questions or feedback. If you have any questions about shipping, need any assistance setting up your devices, or any other matter, please feel free to reach out to [email protected] and we will reply within 24 hours.

Happy holidays!
